Kommetjie, Western Cape

This classic early-70s home in fabulous Old Kom has got the kind of personality you simply can’t manufacture. Think retro design, high ceilings and loads of old-school charm, with leafy surrounds and a lovely outlook towards the mountains. The heart of the home is a relaxed open-plan, split-level living space incorporating the upstairs lounge with fireplace overlooking the downstairs dining area and kitchen. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, giving you all the space you need. Step outside the dining area to a hard wooden deck. There is also a covered seating area where you can enjoy entertaining, private front garden and plenty of room to enjoy that quintessential Kommetjie lifestyle.

And here’s where it gets exciting: this is not a house you buy to leave exactly as it is. It’s a house you buy because you can see what it could be. Keep the retro bones, add some clever contemporary touches, throw in your own design magic and create something seriously cool. There’s a double automated garage, plus additional secure parking behind the gate. If you’ve got style, vision and a weakness for homes with soul, this Old Kom gem is ready for its glow-up.
